National AI Forum: talent and curriculum transformation

On March 26, 2025, Universidad Anáhuac México hosted the National Artificial Intelligence Forum “Developing Mexico's AI talent ecosystem and launching the AI Observatory”, bringing together representatives from industry, government and academia.

Context

The forum set out to discuss and build strategies to advance artificial intelligence in Mexico, with a particular focus on how to develop the talent that industry needs.

What happened

Dr. Jorge Alberto Hidalgo Toledo, academic coordinator of graduate programmes and director of the Human & Nonhuman Communication Lab, co-organized and moderated the panel “Talent development: curriculum transformation to boost Mexico's AI industry”. The discussion laid groundwork for updating upper-secondary and higher-education programmes.

Panelists included, from industry, Íñigo Fernández (Meta) and Juan Enrique Miranda Hernández (Huawei Cloud for the Public Sector); from academia, Dr. Vinicius Covas, of the School of Communication and the lab, and Luis Josué Lugo Sánchez, of UNAM's Artificial Intelligence for Research Laboratory; and from government, Marlenne Mendoza, director general of Technological and Polytechnic Universities.
